The Album

After graduating from high school I was not faced with the question, "where to continue my education?" By this time I had already a firm decision to enter the medical faculty of the Kemerovo State Medical Institute. They say that the college years are the best years in young person's life. And this is really true, because all the thrills and emotions, received over the years of study are unique, and they will remain in memory for long. And there is a confirmation of this here.

Here is a photo album, which was made before the spring session of the second year to get an "excellent" grades for the English language course. Almolst all my class mates of group 218 took part in making the album. The Department of Foreign Languages liked it very much and we all received excellent grades. But most importantly, I liked this album was very much - I put my whole soul into it, and I stole it from the department! I confess!!!

Our popular pastime at the lectures was playing tic-tac-toe. My best result was 2 nd place. The diploma confirms this. This diploma was made directly at the lectures on a piece of notebook paper. And the chief arbiter of the competition was Vahram Aghajanian Vaganovich, now, he is a Doctor of Medicine, professor, a full member of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences (RANS), Honoured Doctor of the Russian Federation, a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and in that time we washed trolleybuses and unloaded freight cars together at the fruit and vegetable depot "Gastronom" when we were free from playing tic-tac-toe.

Or, here is Arkady Blyakher (p. 35 of the album). We often quarreled with each other during our student's years, and even once we went to fight, but we seemed to be true friends. After graduating from the Institute and a job placement, we were sent to the Kurgan region, where we even rented an apartment together during a four-month specialization in surgery. I am grateful to him that during the Institute Entrance Exams, while taking an essay exam, we were sitting at one desk, and he taught me how to check the texts by reading them back to front.
